I already have a website but want to design my own pages. Is there a simple, free WYSIWYG program?

I am computer literate but not a programmer. I would like to design my band’s website and would like to find something simple that we can use to put together our site to include pictures, bios, a calendar and links. All suggestions are welcome. I use Windows XP.

I am looking to build a website which will feature mainly academic papers and information. Nothing fancy. I am looking to buy software that is the best for the job and easy to use as well. Price is not a factor.

anyone know a good web design program thats easy to use?

and has to be free or has a long free trial?

I use NotePad++, it’s free, but you need to know HTML. If you are looking for a WYSIWYG editor like Dreamweaver or FrontPage, try NVU, it’s free and works very nicely.

What reason could I give to a university as to why I’m choosing web design and not Software design?

I’m going to write something about being creative, but that begs the question… why not study software design? my real reason is because web design is simply easier, but what can I tell the university?

You’d tell them, maybe, you know in advance you don’t have the background for software design (like heavy duty math skills), and that you’re being mature and realistic enough to know that software design is not your sensible direction for highest achievement.

Or describe visual and graphics interests as opposed to grim and tedious pure full-time grunge logic.

Create a Website Fast using Photoshop and Fireworks

This is a beginners tutorial on how to quickly take a Photoshop composition and export it in functional .htm format using the slice tool in Fireworks Cs4. Now please note this is a very basic instruction designed for people unfamiliar with Web Design.
